Editor,

When Russia first attacked Ukraine, the citizens of the United States were outraged. We showed our support by protesting in the streets and hanging Ukraine flags on our homes. We felt no nation had the right to attempt to take from any other nation’s sovereign territories. We gave them military equipment to support them in their fight. We watch thousands of their citizens and soldiers die fighting Russia. Now, after years of fighting, we are asking them to give up territory to satisfy Russia in the name of peace talks. Wake up America we need to do what we started with, total support of Ukraine.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Nice. But why? We didn’t start the war. Sure, Biden taking two knees and gifting Afghanistan to the Taliban gave Putin permission to attack Russia but that’s not our problem. Why would Russia give up all Ukrainian territory they won? If the war is allowed to continue, eventually, Ukraine will be completely lost. Russia holds all the cards, and nuclear weapons, should European nations attempt to do anything crazy. Not only that, as Mr. van Ulden has detailed, we know corruption in Ukraine is widespread. I’m betting when Zelensky is ousted, he’ll run off with $millions. Assuming of course, Ukraine hasn’t been nuked should Europe continue their war mongering ways.

Robert - do you have a better idea? Russia is not running out of young men to be killed and Ukraine is in an unwinnable situation. In case you had not noticed, Zelensky had surrounded himself with corrupted individuals who are pocketing millions of dollars and euros. It appears to be about greed and profiteers which is what Ukraine was known for to begin with. If surrendering territory to that vile Putin is a solution let's go for it and let's give peace a chance. The last three years have taught us that we should have never gotten involved and we should have let the pot -shot Europeans handle it. But, I am sure, Ukraine could use more volunteers so get your passport and gear to sign up to fight. It is comfortable to be an armchair warrior, isn't it?
