Editor,

Everyone who was flying the American flag in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day should be doing whatever is achievable for them to help ensure that the flag will continue to stand for a country rooted in democracy. Our U.S. troops fought and died in World War II to preserve the rights and freedoms of our country’s citizens, and now we have a president and an administration doing everything possible to negate, disregard and poison those tenets of democracy. It would be sadly ironic to honor our past defenders of democracy without engaging in the defense of democracy that is so necessary today.

Hilarious. Thanks for your letter, Mr. Goldstein, but you’re at least a year late to the dance. I don’t recall you calling out treasonous Obama and treasonous Biden for their attempts to to negate, disregard and poison tenets of democracy to keep our (yes, our) great President Trump from becoming the greatest President in our lifetimes, twice.

Perhaps you’d be more convincing if you could first explain why Democrats support criminals and terrorists over the American people. Or why Obama apologized indirectly for the US bombing Japan in WWII. If you’re not able then I’ll go ahead and excuse your Trump Derangement Syndrome letter as being based on emotion rather than logic. Have a Trump-tastic day!

Another diatribe from a TDS afflicted citizen. No matter what the occasion is, Chip will find a way to insult those of us who, by and large, support what our President is doing. Chip does not realize that these men and women also died so that he still has the right to posit his silly blather.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I completely agree that the flag represents more than just a symbol of remembrance. It stands for the principles that our country was built upon, including liberty, freedom of speech, and the rule of law. However, it’s important to remember that democracy is also about accepting the governance of the party that wins and respecting the democratic process as a whole. I guarantee you our WWII veterans did not fight for socialism, censorship and rule by law -- beliefs progressive Dems continue to strongly advocate. You can thank them for your misery.
