The survivors heard popping noises, like fireworks. Only when people began dropping did they realize the noises weren’t fireworks, but gunshots.

Fifty-nine murdered; 525 wounded. This is unfathomable, indefensible; yet, only the scale makes it shocking. We’re used to senseless wholesale murder by now.

Dan W,
On April 17, 2013 Sandy Hook gun control legislation was defeated in the democratic controlled Senate. The majority leader was Harry Reid (D). The measure failed because 15 Democrats and one independent voted against the measure. Again, the gun control measure put forth after Sandy Hook failed in the Senate because of democrats.
It's future in the house, which was under GOP control (correction) is undetermined and we'll never know because of the defeat of the bill in the democrat Senate. Of course, during this time the POTUS was democrat Barack Obama.
Murders by gun fire in Chicago is at a slightly lower pace in 2017 than '16. 2017 is under GOP leadership in the White House.

This article by the Modesto Bee makes it sound as if the GOP is solely responsible for the homicide rate by guns in America. This is obviously a hit piece article against one political party. Examples? Chicago has had a democrat mayor for many years but had nearly 4000 homicides there during the presidency of Barack Obama alone with thousands more being shot and surviving. Another? Gun control efforts failed in Congress after Sandy Hook even though Congress was controlled entirely by democrats and we had a democrat president at the time. Another? There are democrat Congresspeople who are card-carrying members of the NRA. Even leftist Bernie Sanders has been supported by the NRA.
This article is more about getting votes for democrats than it is reducing gun homicides.

This comment by "Jack Bauer" is a perfect example of how Fox, Breitbart and Infowars are making people dumber than they already are.

"Gun control efforts failed in Congress after Sandy Hook even though Congress was controlled entirely by democrats"

Sandy Hook occurred December 14, 2012. Gun control measures generated as a result of the massacre were considered by the 113th Congress in 2013, which was split. The House was majority Republican, as it had been since 2010. The Senate was majority Democratic.

"Chicago has had a democrat mayor for many years but had nearly 4000 homicides there during the presidency of Barack Obama alone"

There were 4381 murders in Chicago during George W Bush's 8 years as President.

It sounds like things are getting better in Chicago.

New York City, also controlled by Democrats for years, has seen a decline in violent crime for 25 years. New York's homicide rate is 11% of Chicago,

Maybe other factors are at work in Chicago besides party affiliation?

But you'll never hear that on Bauer's favorite news outlets.
