Esther Anna-Marie (Hanson) Buzan, a San Mateo resident, born May 25, 1923, died March 23, 2017.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at First Presbyterian San Mateo, 194 W. 25th Ave.
Esther’s special love for family and children distinguished her life. As a preschool teacher at church, Tiny Tots and Head Start, Esther served and nurtured many children. Her sweet nature touched hundreds of families.
Esther was born in Ashland, Wisconsin, was wed to Harold Buzan (Chicago) April 26, 1944; moved to California in 1954. A servant’s heart inspired her to community outreach in many ways, helping immigrant families, assisting organizations and charitable efforts. Family affectionately knew her as MorMor or FarMor, consistent with her Swedish heritage.
She is survived by Harold, husband of 72 years, children Laurie Asquith (Groveland), James Buzan (Gladstone, Oregon), grandchildren Greg, Brian and Nathan Spanier, Jeremy and Amy Buzan and 10 great-grandchildren.
“Esther’s family celebrates a lifetime of blessings and memories of one who loved the Lord and compassionately cared for others.”
Memorial donations made through First Presbyterian will fund childhood education.
