A man and a woman alleged to have entered into an apartment complex parking garage on the 1600 block of Delaware Street Friday morning with a U-Haul pickup truck and stolen thousands of dollars in tools and equipment were arrested after being identified by a license plate reader at the mall, according to San Mateo police.
At 11:36 a.m. Nov. 21, police were called to the location and a representative of the apartment complex said earlier in the day two people entered the garage and pried open a locked door of the maintenance room and stole the items. Officers got the license plate number, which was seen at about 6:10 p.m. the next day and stopped the truck at the Hillsdale Shopping Center, according to police.
The driver was identified as Vincent Williams, 42, of San Mateo, while the passenger, who initially lied to officers about her identity, was ultimately identified as Jessica Pappalardo, 42, of Newark, according to police.
A records check revealed Williams had an outstanding felony warrant and Pappalardo was found to be on probation with search terms. A probation search of the vehicle yielded presumptive fentanyl (9.0 grams), a stun gun, a functioning digital scale and drug paraphernalia. During a search incident to arrest of Williams, presumptive methamphetamine was located in Williams’ pants pocket, according to police.
