1 injured, 1 arrested after San Mateo shooting

"At this time, we can confirm one shooting victim was located in San Carlos and was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. There are currently no fatalities," police said on social media shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday.

The shooting was first reported about 4:45 p.m. in a San Mateo neighborhood near East Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street. At that time, it was determined one suspect likely fled and into a nearby apartment, and possibly one or two victims no longer on scene. During the course of the investigation, it was determined there was actually only one victim, police said.

The suspect was located at the apartment and arrested, according to police.

Coincidentally, at the same time, there were reports of a shooting victim located in Millbrae but San Mateo police determined that was not related.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office reported an isolated incident involving a single vehicle on the 200 block of Ashton Avenue in Millbrae. One adult was located in the vehicle with gunshot injuries and was taken to the hospital, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
