Kennedy Center's head of artistic programming steps down 2 weeks after taking the job

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Kennedy Center's head of artistic programming has stepped down, two weeks after being named to the position. Kevin Couch confirmed his departure Thursday without giving a reason. The Kennedy Center has not commented on the situation. Couch's exit comes during a wave of artist cancellations at the Washington performing arts venue. These cancellations are in protest of new leadership appointed by President Donald Trump. Recently, composer Philip Glass and soprano Renée Fleming canceled their performances. The Kennedy Center faces challenges as it navigates these changes and protests. Trump and first lady Melania Trump are expected to walk the red carpet at the Kennedy Center for the Thursday premiere of a documentary she produced.
