Kids of all ages can participate in the Fifth Annual Burlingame Pet Parade Saturday. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Pick of the Litter Thrift Shop at 1127 Chula Vista (near Broadway), marches up Broadway to Capuchino, turns right and circles back down Broadway, a leisurely stroll that takes about 30 minutes. Broadway remains closed to through traffic for another hour after the parade.
Health and wellness fair
The city of San Mateo stages a Senior Health and Wellness Fair extravaganza Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Beresford Park, 2645 Alameda de las Pulgas. Meet Dr. James L. Hutchinson, a long-time proponent of walking and its health benefits, particularly in older adults. Walk a mile or 2-mile course at your own pace. Water stations will be available throughout the course.

Garden party
And just a short walk away ... It’s a Garden Party at the San Mateo Garden Center Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring a pre-holiday sale by 15 local artists, music by the Hillsdale High School jazz band, an autumn plant sale and presentations by Peninsula Quilters, Peninsula Succulent Society and Sogetsu Ikebana master Yoshiko Williams. The San Mateo Garden Center is located at 605 Parkside Way near Beresford Park.
Arbor Day celebration
The city of San Bruno presents an Arbor Day Celebration Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in San Bruno City Park in front of Veterans Memorial Recreation Center. There are fun and free community activities for all ages, including games and crafts, a visit from the "Tree Truck,” a composting workshop and Family Story Time at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and noon. And of course, since the purpose of Arbor Day is to encourage individuals and groups to plant and care for trees, there will be a special tree planting at 12:30 p.m.
