LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada jury has convicted “Dances With Wolves” actor Nathan Chasing Horse of sexually assaulting a minor. The verdict was delivered Friday in Las Vegas. Chasing Horse was acquitted on other charges of sexual assault. He had pleaded not guilty to all 21 charges. Prosecutors said he used his reputation as a Lakota medicine man to prey on Indigenous women and girls. The guilty verdicts mainly involved a victim who was 14 when the assaults began. The case has been a significant effort to prosecute Chasing Horse, who was first arrested and indicted in 2023.
