The Lady Mustangs (18-6) won their fifth straight, including their second no-hitter of the streak, as sophomore Lily Thomas fired three hitless innings in an abbreviated mercy-rule win at home over Milpitas (5-14).
Thomas allowed just one baserunner on a Cap error, and struck out seven, improving her record to 6-2 with a 1.62 ERA. Her offense gave her all the runs she’d need in the first with a 10-run outburst. Sophomore Brianna Lopiccolo paced the Mustangs, going 3 for 3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore Dana Motroni added two doubles and three RBIs, and senior Avery Motroni had a triple with three RBIs.
Senior Lola Sierra opened the five-game winning streak April 29 with a five-inning no-hitter against San Mateo, and also had a five-inning one-hitter May 6 in a 10-0 shutout of Burlingame.
Baseball
Woodside 5, More 4
Facing a 4-0 deficit, the Wildcats (10-14) got on the board with a run in the fourth and took the lead with a four-run rally in the fifth to snap a three-game losing streak in non-league action at home against More-San Jose (15-9). The loss snaps a nine-game winning streak for the Knights.

Junior starting pitcher Carter Ball overcame a rough second inning to work into the seventh, logging a career-high 6 2/3 innings to earn the win. Ball surrendered four innings, all in the second, though only two were earned. He allowed five hits, three walks, and hit two batters while striking out seven. Senior closer Andrew Comfort emerged in the seventh to earn the save, strike out the only batter he faced.
Freshmen Mateus Mokhtarani and Colby Fernandez combined for half of Woodside’s six hits. Mokhtarani was 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored, while Fernandez had a double and an RBI. Junior Cruz Torres ran his current hitting streak to 11 games with a single and an RBI, and is now batting .453 on the year, including .583 over the course of the streak.
Palo Alto 6, Burlingame 1
Palo Alto starter Nate Robinson went the distance for the first time in his varsity career to get the Vikings (12-13) back in the win column at home against Burlingame (10-15). The Panthers have now dropped three straight. Robinson allowed one run on six hits and a walk, while striking out seven to earn his first varsity win. Burlingame junior Ea Leialoha took the loss through 4 1/3 innings. Palo Alto scored three in the third and two in the fifth. The Panthers got on the board in the sixth with an RBI single from Jean-Luc Uharriet, who went 2 for 3 on the day.
Los Altos 8, Sequoia 6
Sequoia jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but Los Altos (18-7) scored in five of the last six innings to earn the non-league win over the Ravens (14-11) in Redwood City. Senior Darrion Wesley homered for Los Altos, while senior Emmett Heath totaled three hits, and senior Quinn Chiochios and Gavin Moore registered two RBIs apiece. Sequoia senior Cameron Abrams connected for his first home run of the season, and added two RBIs. Senior Logan Mathias was 3 for 4 with a double — his fifth multi-hit game over Sequoia’s last six, including three three-hit games and one four-hit games — to improve his average to .455 on the season.
Riordan 6, Carlmont 2
Riordan (9-17-1) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second held the Scots (12-13) in check the rest of the way in non-league action at Carlmont. Senior Chase Oliver went 3 for 3 with a solo home run to pace the Crusaders, while senior Jacob Debriwny added two hits and two RBIs. Grant Goetz tabbed an RBI for Carlmont during a two-run third. Senior Jason Tofigh produced one of the Scots’ three hits, and added a stolen base.
