Kealani Kaufusi, Hillsdale softball. The fourth-year varsity senior picked a heck of a time for her first career home run, delivering the game-winning swing in a 3-2 victory over Mills. Kaufusi stepped to the plate amid a 2-2 tie in the sixth and was facing an 0-2 count when she hammered a high fastball deep into the spacious right field at Hillsdale. With no fences, Kaufusi sprinted around the bases to beat the relay throw by a step for an inside-the-park homer.

Nathaniel Macapagal, El Camino boys’ swimming. El Camino got past Oceana 83-73 in the first PAL Ocean Division dual meet of the year. Macapagal enjoyed two wins, as the junior sprinter earned a CCS cut in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.83 seconds. He followed that with a win in the 100 free with a 50.09. Jonathan Lam also earned two wins, taking first in the 100 fly in 57.34, and in the 100 back in 58.53.
