Injuries finally caught up to the seventh-seeded Warriors as they went down to the 10th-seeded Golden Eagles in the first round of the Nor Cal Division II bracket.
Playing a third straight game without senior guard Brittney Cedeno, South City (26-5) lost her replacement, freshman Alex Salise, minutes into the game with an injured tailbone. Senior Post player Neveah Miller was limited to just two minutes as she has nursed a shoulder injury for much of the second half of the season, and the Warriors were forced to play with a seven-player rotation.
And yet South City found itself leading 25-24 at the break and trailing only 42-39 going into the fourth quarter before Del Oro pulled away.
Seniors Kayla Jew and Jerlene Miller each had nine points to lead the Warriors, who also got eight points each from Salise and Lafu Malepeai.
