Editor,

Why is it that people that are for abortion feel that it is their mission to fight against any attempt to repeal Roe v. Wade? Could it be that these people who are so rabidly “pro-choice” have committed that atrocious sin of murdering their own child, and they do not want to face the fact that what they did was gravely wrong? Perhaps, when you consider that there have been over 50 million abortions since Roe v. Wade in 1973.

You're welcome to your opinion about the morality of abortion. But remember, this is not a theocracy where religious beliefs dictate the society's laws. Many people living in this republic do not share your opinion, and the republic has no right to dictate morality.

If it weren’t so damaging for so many, it would be funny how religious fanatics think they have a “moral” obligation to control the lives of others, - while giving themselves heavenly points for such evil, inhuman ideas. Do they ever stop to think about the fact that nature itself terminates many abortions, for several reasons, - known or unknown to the women and families involved? Do they blame their imaginary “god”? Women should have control over their own bodies, not some fanatics out there with screwed up ideas about “morality”. What about young girls impregnated by brothers, uncles, fathers, even grand fathers and other family members? What about rape victims, including those impregnated by clergy through centuries of abuse, whether Catholics or other sects, here and abroad? This was hushed down in the past, and aborted fetuses buried in secrecy by those taken upon themselves to be the “morality” police. About time we grow out of religious fanaticism!

I'm glad there aren't 50 million+ more people in this country. Keep abortion legal.

This may be the most repugnant LTE the Daily Journal has ever published.
