Mike Caggiano (LTE Dec. 19) thinks it is high time for “peace” in the Middle East. No doubt Mideast leaders have been awaiting anxiously Caggiano’s calls for immediate talks between the parties. And while Caggiano’s sentiments are sweet; they naively ignore one element to “peace”: namely education.
When Palestinian schools teach their children to glorify Oct.7, there can only be repeated attempts to slaughter Jews in the future.
Until that education system teaches Palestinians to love their own children more than hate the children of Jews, the next generations of Palestinians will be incited again to annihilate the nation of Israel and exterminate its Jews.
No, Mr. Caggiano, it is not “peace” talks among leaders that will bring hope to the Middle East; it is the eradication of teaching hatred into Palestinian children.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Abramson. I’d add that we need to eradicate the teaching of hatred from Palestinian adults, too. Until that time, Hamas reaps what they sow and I wish Netanyahu continued success in eradicating Hamas and their supporters if education doesn’t help.
