Interesting and informative story on East Palo Alto and the Nairobi Movement of the 1960s (Feb. 20 edition of the Daily Journal). EPA is a fine example of the melting pot theory of America, although it is more of a tossed salad today. The area still has streets with Irish names of the original settlers. The last time I was there I attended a St. Patrick’s Day luncheon at St. Francis Church. It was quite something to hear Hispanics and Pacific Islanders sing Irish songs. I felt hopeful for our future.
