Bay Area residents who pleaded no contest to the 2021 robbery of a French bulldog named Prada have received sentences of four to six months in jail, said Sean Gallagher, San Mateo County chief deputy district attorney.
The victim and dog owner were staying at the South San Francisco Travelodge when 8-month-old Prada was taken from him, along with the keys to his vehicle, on June 29, 2021. A female associate was enlisted to get him to reveal his location, at which point he opened his door — expecting her — and was attacked by four individuals who took the dog and keys, according to the DA’s Office.
The robbery of Prada was instigated by the victim’s ex-girlfriend, Rocio Navarroflores, who enlisted the help of “gang members” to steal the dog, the DA’s Office said.
A successful sting operation was conducted to recover and return Prada to her owner, the DA’s Office said.
Vanessa Barrera, who pleaded no contest to felony assault with a deadly weapon, and Brianna Toneyherrera, who pleaded no contest to residential burglary, received six months in jail.
Rocio Navarroflores, Froylan Armenia Jr., Enzo Perdomo and Marco Martinez pleaded no contest to residential burglary and received four months in jail. Alexandra Salamanca pleaded no contest to felony possession of stolen property and received four months in jail.
Angel Orozcoisneros, who previously pleaded guilty to residential burglary, will be sentenced June 4.
