Louvre Museum director resigns in the wake of October's brazen French crown jewels heist
PARIS (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron has accepted the resignation of the Louvre Museum’s president. Laurence des Cars had been under fire in the wake of a stunning and embarrassing heist of the French crown jewels. Des Cars' resignation was announced by the presidential office in a statement on Tuesday. Macron praised des Cars’ resignation decision as “an act of responsibility at a time when the world’s largest museum needs calm and a strong new impetus to carry out major projects." Thieves took less than eight minutes in October to steal 88 million euros or $102 million worth of crown jewels.
What to know about the charge that former Prince Andrew and Peter Mandelson could face
LONDON (AP) — The arrests of the former Prince Andrew and Britain's former ambassador to the U.S. over their links to Jeffrey Epstein are shining a spotlight on an ancient offense known as misconduct in public office. The former prince and Peter Mandelson were arrested within days of each other on suspicion of the same offense. Experts say the law is vague and in need of reform, and that the cases against both men may be difficult to prosecute. U.S. documents suggest Andrew sent confidential trade material to Epstein during his time as a U.K. trade envoy. The same files suggest Mandelson shared internal government details when he served as business secretary. Neither man has been charged.

Music Review: Mitski’s haunted 'Nothing’s About to Happen to Me' explores solitude, death and cats
On her eighth studio release, singer-songwriter Mitski crafts a stunningly dark tapestry concerned with solitude and death. On “Nothing's About to Happen to Me,” psychological unrest manifests physically as a spooky house. And yes, there are cats, writes The Associated Press’ Jim Pollock in his review. Mitski has described the new album as a musical continuation of her 2023 release, “The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We.” She again blends Americana and alt-rock with meticulous orchestral and choral arrangements. But this is more than a simple second edition. At its core, the new release is a free-standing concept album in which haunter and haunted are often one in the same.
‘Scrubs’ revival brings back the old goofy gang, but now they're, gulp, in charge
NEW YORK (AP) — The “Scrubs” revival brings back Dr. John Dorian and Dr. Christopher Turk, picking up 17 years after the original series ended. Creator Bill Lawrence says the characters are still playful but now lead responsible adult lives. The revival features the original cast as teachers to new doctors, reflecting changes in medicine and hospital culture. Dr. Perry Cox, played by John C. McGinley, can no longer berate interns as he did in the past. The show explores themes of male friendship and the second stage of life, maintaining its mix of drama and comedy while staying grounded in reality.
Taylor Sheridan has never been to prison. His new book still maps how to survive it
NEW YORK (AP) — Taylor Sheridan has a new book coming out, and it tackles prison survival even though he has never been behind bars. Simon & Schuster announced the project on Tuesday and said it will be released June 23. The book is called “How to Not Die in Prison.” The publisher calls it a darkly funny guide to life in a maximum-security facility. Sheridan said research on his TV show “Mayor of Kingstown” pushed him deeper into prison politics. Former inmate Tom Nelson co-wrote the book. He joked that their mix of Hollywood and prison time makes good entertainment.
How social media killed the food festival stars. And created others
MIAMI (AP) — Food festivals are changing. Social media has given fans direct access to chefs if they want it. Many smaller festivals have faded after the pandemic, facing rising costs and less chef interest. And there are newer, more local food festivals that are drawing in foodies. Instead of Food Network chefs, these festivals celebrate local communities. Yet the biggest events still sell the magic of being there. The South Beach Wine & Food Festival just marked its 25th year in Florida with sellout crowds. It offered intimate dinners and celebrity chefs, among other draws.
