A 24-year-old San Mateo resident has pleaded no contest to felony driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, with admission of inflicting great bodily injury, after hitting and dragging a teen boy on an e-bike for two blocks, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The driver, Brayan Lorenzo-Gomez, faces up to five years in state prison and will be sentenced March 20.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2025, in San Mateo on Cottage Grove Avenue and South Norfolk Street after Lorenzo-Gomez veered into the bike lane and hit the 15-year-old boy, who was riding the e-bike, dragging him and the bike for two blocks. The driver then hit two parked cars, fled the scene and hid under a parked car, where police found him with methamphetamine. Law enforcement also found 14 empty beer cans in his car.
The boy was previously hospitalized and suffered a fractured femur, lacerated spleen and road rash along the left side of his body.
