The lead Héctor Camacho has against Chelsea Bonini in the race for San Mateo County superintendent of schools has continued to grow, according to semiofficial election results Monday.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, Camacho had 54,634 votes while Bonini had 49,592, trailing behind nearly five percentage points.
Since election night when Bonini was in the lead, the most recently counted ballots have favored Camacho and the difference in votes between the two has consistently grown.
So far, 129,084 ballots have been processed, with an estimated 66,000 remaining, according to the election’s office. The voter turnout has increased to 28.9%, as of Monday.
The next update in vote counts will be by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
