Pacifica jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the top of the first. After National scored two in the bottom of the frame, Pacifica got one back in the third. National responded again, this time tying it in the bottom of three with RBI singles from Nico Perry and Charlie DiMaggio.

In the fifth, Drew Perez swiped home on a double steal. National ultimately sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning. DiMaggio led the way, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs, while Poggetti and Perry had two hits apiece.

Kyle Buckley earned the win in relief, firing 2 1/3 scoreless innings while surrendering two hits and striking out two. DiMaggio worked 3 2/3 innings as the starter, throwing 81 pitches.

With the win, National advances through the elimination bracket to face Palo Alto, Thursday, at 5:30 p.m.

Palo Alto 12, Half Moon Bay 10

A wild seesaw battle saw Palo Alto come out on top by virtue of a three-run rally in the top of the sixth in an elimination game against Half Moon Bay at Trinta Park.

After HMB scored twice in the second, Paly exploded for a nine-run third to swing ahead. But HMB fired back, scoring three in the third, four in the fourth, and taking the lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Dillon Junge to drive home Liam Keates.

But in the sixth, after a Jack Fee single and a walk to Avi Airan, Beau Jefferson delivered a two-out RBI single to tie it up. Colin Blanco followed with the go-ahead knock on an infield single to score Airan. Mateo Benford Garcia added an insurance run with an RBI double to right.

Paly totaled 16 hits, led by Fee’s 3-for-3 day with an RBI and two runs. Jefferson and Dylan Wu added two hits and two RBIs apiece, Blanco had two hits with an RBI, and Madison Wu had a single and two RBIs. HMB was paced by Junge’s double and two RBIs, and Jameson Barber also batted in two.

Paly moves on through the elimination bracket to take on San Mateo National, Thursday, at 5:30 p.m.
