As the year winds down, it’s fitting to reflect on what a historic summer it was in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Not only did the most revered collegiate summer baseball league celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023, longtime Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox manager Scott Pickler spent his silver anniversary on the Cape. In his 25 years coaching in the Massachusetts-based wood-bat league, Pickler — the CCL’s all-time winningest coach — has affected the San Francisco Giants baseball culture in a big way, having spent two seasons in 2006 and ’07 helping groom future MLB All-Star catcher Buster Posey, who was a CCL All-Star with a loaded Yarmouth-Dennis team.

Congrats Craig! My wife and I visited Cape Cod a few years ago and attended a game while there...what a great experience! Also visited the Cape Cod League Hall of Fame museum and I was amazed by the number of current/former MLB players that have played in the league.
