My apologizes to letter writer Adam Currier in his just criticism of my letter in Tuesday’s Daily Journal. Truth be told, I just got caught up in the number of the comments, both from merchants and the public who I run into on a daily basis when walking my dogs in the morning, literally to a person criticizing the city for putting up such a, if I may use Adam’s word, “aggressive” deterrent, that I felt a need to address it publicly through the Daily Journal’s readership.
As Adam aptly put it, using the word “anti-tank” barrier was a bit harsh. Instead, and what Adam didn’t mention, I should have been more focused on the wasted cost of over $200,000 to replace the previous and build the current barriers.
I also foolishly was thinking of the glass being half full. That of all the cities and towns in the world a crazed person could just drive his, her or them vehicle into a crowd of people in downtown San Mateo. Yes, it could happen.
And lastly, though I can’t speak for Tim Donnelly personally, as I don’t really know him, I want to thank Adam for reading our letters to the editor. I’m sure I speak for Tim when I say we both appreciate our fan’s support. I know it makes us feel better knowing we’re finding solutions to San Mateo’s problems with our correspondence with the Daily Journal’s readership.
