Editor,

Regarding the March 7 story “Teachers’ union seeks censure of SMUHSD trustee,” Jennifer Jacobson’s position during on an online forum concerning ethnic studies was consistent with the First Amendment which supports the expression of a variety of opinions. Craig Childress, president of the San Mateo School District Teachers Association, wants to censure Jacobson because she refuses to goose step to his position on ethnic studies. The board should support the expression of various viewpoints as an example of tolerance to the students of the district rather than engaging in dictatorial intolerance.

Not So Common

Well said, perhaps Craig Childress and his posse are the ones who should be censured?
