Many of you will remember the song “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth,” written in 1944 by a New York school teacher.

Craig Wiesner

Asking his students what they wanted for Christmas he noticed that many of them were missing at least one front tooth. Thus inspired, it took him around 30 minutes to write that song. He was stunned by how it took off across the country, resonating with so many people, like little me, who had once made that wish. For years now my husband and I have had a ritual when a birthday, anniversary or holiday like Christmas is coming. We each ask the other “What do you want for … ?” Both of us, feeling like we have everything we really need, typically respond with the answer “YOU!”

I wish for your wishes to come true!

Craig, you apparently believe in Santa Claus because I'm not sure who else you think would be able to provide all this "free" stuff for not only US citizens, but for anyone who manages to cross our borders. Good luck with that.

Not So Common

Craig, and who is going to pay for all of this? Oh you say you wish that those who have the most would pay their fair share. Well, they already do pay far more than their "fair" share. The top 1% of income earners pay more in taxes than the bottom 90% combined. You are right, the 90% need to pay their fare share and quit relying on the top 1%. This can be done by weaning the bottom feeders off of the one percent's gravy train by eliminating all their freebies, like healthcare, food stamps, housing, child credits etc..

BTW - If I stole a vehicle and then 20 minutes later I saw flashing lights behind me I'd be a bit anxious knowing that I had stolen a vehicle. So the 12-20 million illegal immigrants should be nervous, because they have committed a crime by illegally entering the U.S. and then the crime is compounded by stealing American tax payers for their food, healthcare, housing, education etc.. What's worse is the money they do earn is sent back to their countries in remittances.

I have no problem with immigrants as long as they follow the rules and enter the U.S. correctly. All cities need to enforce all laws on the books, not just the laws that fit a city's ideology and emotions. Merry Christmas.

Thanks for your column, Mr. Wiesner, but I’m a bit disappointed. Among your chasing of unicorns and rainbows you didn’t state the most obvious answer: world peace. I’d add that just as folks should report criminal acts and their perpetrators, folks should report folks who invade our country, whether from sea, land, or air. If one does the crime, they should be prepared to do the time.
