SamTrans service could be disrupted as early as Monday because of a labor dispute, the transit agency announced Friday.

Members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1574 rejected a three-year contract proposal, potentially resulting in a work stoppage that could lead to service disruptions for SamTrans customers as early as next week, the transit agency said.

I get the feeling a higher number of appointment cancellations might occur as early as next week. Download your Uber or Lyft or Waymo apps, or just drive. These unknown duration interruptions are just another reason why folks should drive instead of taking mass transportation…

Sam Trans never strikes. VTA, AC transit + Muni all make more than ST Operators and those two entities have better medical and retirement packages.

Thus your last sentence is not accurate.

Not So Common

It doesn't matter if one is paid better or receive better perks, they are still all paid incredibly well. The point was, public employees and public employee unions should never be allowed to strike. They work for the PUBLIC, and are paid by the public and when they strike or call for a sick out they hurt the public. Fire fighters, police officers are prevented from striking and the same should apply for ALL public employees.

Not So Common

SamTrans, AC transit, CALtrains, and ay tax

Payer entity ( teachers) which are funded by taxpayers should never be allowed to strike. They receive more benefits than 90% of America and 99% of the world,. All theydo is complain, complain, and complain. It is the Democrat mantra.

50-60% of school funding should be going to class room teachers - that is part of California's Education Code. Most county school district hover around 35%. That is not because they overpay their teachers.
