A man who allegedly was breaking car windows at the Hillsdale Shopping Center Tuesday was arrested and, after saying he had a medical problem, taken to the hospital where he kicked a nurse, according to police.
At about 10:58 p.m. Dec. 10, San Mateo police received reports that a man was breaking windows. Upon arrival, the suspect, identified as William Chase, 58, of San Jose, was yelling and being aggressive toward others. When we was placed in handcuffs, he spit on and kicked officers.
Officers learned from witnesses that Chase threw a large rock at a parked car breaking the window. When officers were trying to speak to Chase, he refused to identify himself and complained of a medical problem. Chase was transported to a local hospital. While at the hospital, Chase’s aggressive demeanor escalated, and he kicked a nurse. After Chase was medically cleared, he was transported and booked into the San Mateo County Jail, according to police.
