Kianna Underwood, former Nickelodeon star, killed in hit-and-run
NEW YORK (AP) — Law enforcement officials say Kianna Underwood, a former Nickelodeon child star, was killed in a hit-and-run in New York. She was 33. The New York Police Department says Underwood was crossing an intersection in Brooklyn when a black Ford Explorer SUV hit her. While lying in the street, she was then struck by a black and gray sedan. Police say both drivers left the scene and have not been identified. The investigation remains ongoing. Underwood appeared in Nickelodeon’s series "All That" in 2005 and voiced Fuchsia in the Nick Jr. show "Little Bill."
Actor Timothy Busfield's attorneys say an investigation undermines state's child sex abuse charges
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Emmy Award-winning actor Timothy Busfield’s attorneys told a court he should be released while he awaits the outcome of child sex abuse charges against him. Busfield's attorneys said in court filings Friday an independent investigation undermined the state’s allegations and the parents of his accusers have a history of fraud and dishonesty. His attorneys also say he passed a polygraph test. Busfield was ordered held without bond at his first court appearance earlier this week after he turned himself in to face charges stemming from allegations that he inappropriately touched a minor on the set of a TV series he was directing in New Mexico.
Julio Iglesias calls sexual abuse allegations against him 'absolutely untrue'
MADRID (AP) — Julio Iglesias has denied allegations of sexual assault made by two former employees. Media reports allege the singer assaulted the women at his residences in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas between January and October 2021. Spanish prosecutors are studying the claims. Iglesias denied the accusations on Instagram, calling them false and distressing. A joint investigation by elDiario.es and Univision Noticias was published on Jan. 13. A Spanish high court received formal allegations against Iglesias on Jan. 5. Iglesias, 82, is one of the world’s most successful musical artists, having sold over 300 million records.

Former Universal chair David Linde named CEO of Sundance Institute
David Linde, former chairman of Universal Pictures and CEO of Participant Media, has been named CEO of the Sundance Institute. The nonprofit organization announced Thursday that Linde will assume the role on Feb. 17, after this year’s festival concludes. His responsibilities will include overseeing the Sundance Film Festival’s transition to Boulder, Colorado, in 2027 and managing year-round programs like artist labs and fellowships. Sundance has been operating under interim CEO Amanda Kelso since early 2024. Linde, a Hollywood veteran, has worked across television and film for decades, cofounding Focus Features and overseeing numerous Oscar nominees and winners.
The new BTS album title and what to know about the K-pop band’s comeback
NEW YORK (AP) — After a nearly four-year musical hiatus, the K-pop giants BTS are back. Well, almost. On Thursday morning, the entertainment company BigHit Music shared on social media that the septet will release a new album on March 20 titled “ARIRANG.” It is their fifth album. Fans can preorder 10 different vinyl versions and two different CD versions of the release. The news arrives two days after the septet of RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, Jung Kook and j-hope announced a 2026-2027 world tour. It will kick off in South Korea in April and run through March 2027 with over 70 dates across Asia, North America, South America, Australia and Europe.
