Bryan Rust, Yegor Chinakhov send streaking Penguins past Red Wings, 4-1

Sidney Crosby extended his point streak to six games with two assists. Crosby, who scored two goals on Thursday, has four goals and six assists during that stretch and 53 points in 40 career games against the Red Wings.

AVALANCHE 5, HURRICANES 3

RALEIGH, N.C. — Brock Nelson scored two power-play goals in the first 7 1/2 minutes of the third period and Colorado rallied past Carolina for their 10th consecutive victory.

After trailing 3-1 through two periods, NHL-leading Colorado (31-2-7) scored four unanswered goals in the third to extend its point streak to 13 games.

Nelson trimmed the deficit to one at 1:09 and Jack Drury tied it 33 seconds later. Nelson gave the Avalanche their first lead at 7:30 and NHL points leader Nathan MacKinnon, who had two assists, was awarded a goal with 18 seconds to play.

Gabriel Landeskog scored early in the second period for Colorado, and Cale Makar added two assists. Scott Wedgewood made 10 of his 25 saves in the third.

Sebastian Aho scored his 300th career goal and Nikolaj Ehlers and Andrei Svechnikov also scored for the Hurricanes, who have lost three straight games in regulation for the first time this season. Carolina dropped to 15-2-1 when leading after two periods.

BLUE JACKETS 5, SABRES 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets scored three times in the first period, including once short-handed, and beat Buffalo, snapping the Sabres’ 10-game win streak.

Denton Mateychuk, Brendan Gaunce and Dmitri Voronkov scored in the first, while Mathieu Olivier added a second-period goal, and Cole Sillinger contributed a third-period empty-netter. Damon Severson and Zach Werenski each had two assists, Mateychuk also added a helper, and Jet Greaves stopped 32 shots.

The Blue Jackets have won four of the last five games in the series.

Josh Doan scored, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 30 shots for Buffalo, which lost for the first time since Dec. 8. It was the third time in the team’s 56-year history that it had a win streak snapped at 10 games.

Mateychuk extended his point streak to six games and put Columbus ahead at 3 minutes, burying the second Blue Jackets shot of the game from outside the right circle. Werenski returned after missing four games with a lower-body injury and provided the secondary assist, giving him a point in his last 13 home games.

DEVILS 4, MAMMOTH 1

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Jesper Bratt had a goal and an assist to lead the New Jersey to a win over Utah.

Timo Meier, Nico Hischier and Dougie Hamilton scored for New Jersey. Brett Pesce finished with two assists and five blocked shots.

New Jersey’s Jack Hughes assisted on two goals. It was his first two-point game since returning five games ago after being sidelined for 18 contests due to a hand injury.

Michael Carcone scored in the third period for Utah (19-20-3). Barrett Hayton and Sean Durzi assisted as the Mammoth lost for the fourth time in six games.

FLYERS 5, OILERS 2

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Owen Tippett and Nick Seeler each had a goal and an assist to lead Philadelphia to a win over Edmonton.

Denver Barkey, Travis Sanheim and Bobby Brink also scored for the Flyers (21-12-7), who have won four of their last six games. Philadelphia went 3-2 on its five-game trip.

Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard scored for the Oilers (20-16-6), who have lost three of their last four.

Dan Vladar stopped 22 shots for the Flyers and set a career high for victories in a season with 15 wins in 24 starts.

Calvin Pickard made 24 saves for Edmonton.

BLUES 0, CANADIENS 0

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Jordan Binnington made 25 saves for his first shutout of the season, Jonatan Berggren and Robert Thomas scored and St. Louis beat Montreal.

Binnington has 19 career shutouts. The Canadian Olympian allowed three goals or more in seven of his previous nine starts — six against Colorado in his last start.

Montreal’s Jacob Fowler stopped 17 shots.

LIGHTNING 7, SHARKS 3

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Nikita Kucherov scored his 20th goal of the season on a second-period power play and added four assists, Darren Raddysh had a hat trick and the Tampa Bay beat San Jose.

Brayden Point, Dominic James and Brandon Hagel also scored for Tampa Bay, and Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jake Guentzel each had two assists. Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 19 shots.

The Lightning raced to a three-goal lead in the first seven minutes. Point opened the scoring at 2:37, Raddysh followed at 4:08, and Hagel scored his 19th goal of the season on a power play at 6:46 to chase goalie Yaroslav Askarov.

Pavol Regenda had a hat trick for the Sharks, and Timothy Liljegren and Jeff Skinner each had two assists. Macklin Celebrini added an assist to extend his points streak to 10 games. Askarov made seven saves. Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 12 shots in relief.

SENATORS 4, JETS 2

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Ottawa defenseman Thomas Chabot scored twice and the Senators beat Winnipeg, handing the Jets their ninth straight loss.

Late in the second period after his second goal, Chabot took a puck to the face on Tanner Pearson’s clearing attempt. Chabot immediately sprinted off the ice, then returned for the third wearing a full bubble.

Drake Batherson and Claude Giroux also scored, and Leevi Merilainen made 20 saves in his third straight start. Ottawa improved to 20-15-5.

Adam Lowry and Kyle Connor scored for the Jets, and Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves. They are 0-6-3 on the skid to drop to 15-21-4.

ISLANDERS 4, MAPLE LEAFS 3, OT

NEW YORK (AP) — Matthew Schaefer scored twice, including at 4:11 of overtime, and New York beat Toronto.

Adam Pelech and Emil Heineman also scored, and Jonathan Drouin and Mathew Barzal each had two assists for the Islanders, who won for the second time in three games. David Rittich had 18 saves in his seventh straight start, with Ilya Sorokin dressing as the backup for the first time since Dec. 19.

Auston Matthews two goals for the Maple leafs, setting the franchise career record with 421. Nicholas Robertson also scored and Joseph Woll finished with 21 saves.

BLACKHAWKS 3, CAPITALS 2, SO

WASHINGTON (AP) — Nick Foligno scored in the sixth round of a shootout to give Chicago a victory over Washington.

The Capitals fell to 0-5 in shootouts this season. Sonny Milano gave Washington a brief lead when he scored in the fifth round, but former Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky tied it for the Blackhawks. Then Jakob Chychrun failed to score for Washington and Foligno ended it.

Ryan Donato and Teuvo Teravainen scored for Chicago in regulation, and Dylan Strome and Ryan Leonard scored for the Capitals. Leonard tied it with 8:42 left in the third period.

The Capitals lost forward Tom Wilson, who was picked earlier in the week for Canada’s Olympic team, in the first period to an apparent leg injury. Washington was also without forward Aliaksei Protas because of a lower-body injury.

PREDATORS 4, FLAMES 3

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Nicolas Hague broke a tie with 28 seconds left, Erik Haula scored twice in a 1:33 span in his 800th NHL game and Nashville beat Calgary.

The winner came on a slap shot from the blue line that deflected off Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar while he was battling in front with Cole Smith.

Michael Bunting had a goal and two assists for Nashville. Steven Stamkos added two assists, and Juuse Saros made 20 saves. The Predators improved to 19-18-4.

Yan Kuznetsov, Rasmus Andersson and Blake Coleman scored for the Flames, and Dustin Wolf stopped 32 shots. The Flames dropped to 18-19-4. They had won five in a row at home.

KINGS 5, WILD 4, SO

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Quinton Byfield had a goal and an assist, Samuel Helenius scored his first goal of the season, and Los Angeles beat Minnesota in a shootout.

Adrian Kempe and Corey Perry also scored, Darcy Kuemper made 24 saves, and the Kings were able to respond after wilting late in similar circumstances in a 5-3 loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday.

Matt Boldy scored late to salvage a point for the Wild. Jake Middleton, Joel Eriksson Ek and Brock Faber each had a goal, and Minnesota is 3-0-3 in its past six games. Jesper Wallstedt made 34 saves.

Kempe and Brandt Clarke scored in the four-round shootout, and Kuemper saved attempts by Kirill Kaprizov and Vladimir Tarasenko.

BRUINS 3, CANUCKS 2, OT

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Fraser Minten scored his second goal of the game 4:41 into overtime to cap a huge homecoming as Boston beat Vancouver.

Playing his first NHL game in his hometown, Minten opened the scoring in the first period with a power-play goal before dozens of friends and family members in the crowd.

Elias Lindholm also scored for Boston with the man advantage. David Pastrnak had two assists and Jeremy Swayman stopped 31 shots.

It was the Bruins’ second straight win after losing six games in a row (0-4-2).

The Canucks got a goal and an assist from Filip Hronek. Elias Pettersson scored and Kevin Lankinen made 18 saves.
