Amid the unfolding events regarding the war in Iran, the newly introduced $95 billion package that was advanced by House Budget Committee Republicans includes significant funding set aside for the war in Iran. This budgetary initiative is surprising given increasing disapproval rates among national constituencies. While Chairman Arrington’s words are valid in that supplies are necessary for troops, the continuous funding and support that Congress has allowed in the name of defense seems to be out of scope given the duration and destruction of the conflict.
The ongoing actions at the Capitol regarding the conflict in Iran represents a disregard for the approval ratings of the U.S. citizens. A survey conducted by Ipsos back in March of 2026 found that 66% of participants opposed U.S involvement in the conflict.
Rather than directing funds toward destruction and further instability among communities and countries, taxpayer dollars should be better spent on initiatives that can help strengthen society.
Focusing on solving issues such as the increasing rate of global displacement and providing aid to impoverished communities have the potential to accrue significant long-term benefits not only for those in need but also for states like the United States that have the capacity to thrive through diversity.
So right you are, but try to explain that to someone as dense and uneducated as Trump, “the dumbest student we have ever encountered”, according to his teachers. USC Film school rejected him, regardless of what his dad offered as bribe to get him in.
Seems to me, Arshia, that $95 billion isn’t enough. Perhaps $195 billion? After all, didn’t Biden give $127 billion to Ukraine to support their never ending war? And don’t we need to replace the $billions in weapons that were given to Ukraine? Did you write a letter expressing outrage at Biden?
As for global displacement and providing aid, how about if Iran developed/used a nuclear weapon? And how about getting billionaires and millionaires on board with providing aid to global communities. There’s no law preventing them from doing so. Meanwhile, more power to Trump to continue bridges and power plants days. BTW, how about getting Iran and their proxies from impoverishing their own communities?
