This week is the annual celebration of National Police Week, where we honor the duty and sacrifice of law enforcement at all levels of government.
In this time of great political divide, I don’t know that I have more valued or appreciated the always complex and often quiet work our local police departments and Sheriff’s Office do to keep our Peninsula cities safe. It’s long hours, frequently stressful, and often taxing on officer’s families as well.
I’m grateful to each and every officer (and their families!) for their efforts. If you see an officer this week out and about, please let them know of your appreciation as well.

Thanks for your letter, Ms. Fernandez. I’d recommend folks read the Presidential Proclamation released in honor of National Police Week (https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2026/05/peace-officers-memorial-day-and-police-week-2026/). Now for the other side of the coin…perhaps we can get the “order” side (mostly Democrats) to stop releasing known criminals back into the streets so they can victimize more people, including somebody's family, neighbors, and friends.
