Robin Claire Greene (nee Boldenweck) passed away with family by her side on Sunday evening, January 18, 2026, in Danville, CA.
Robin was born on June 14, 1934, in St Louis MO to Vera and Leo Boldenweck. She is the second daughter of what would become a family of five girls. The Boldenweck’s soon moved north to Hinsdale, IL, just outside of Chicago, where the girls lived a storied childhood. She and her sisters attended St Isaac Jogues parochial school and Nazareth Academy High School. She loved her social life and playing tennis. She was the class valedictorian and won the award for perfect attendance. She recalled this latter achievement with an eye roll and that she should have probably taken a day off.
Robin bravely left Chicago to attend college in Los Angeles - her parents and younger sisters soon followed her west. The family ultimately moved to the Bay Area where Robin graduated from Notre Dame College in Belmont.
Robin met Raymond Greene, Jr at a USF basketball game. They married on April 11, 1959, at Corpus Christi Church in Piedmont. They moved to San Mateo, created a family with two boys and a girl, and were active in St Gregory’s Parish and Parochial School. She added golf to her athletic accomplishments when they joined Peninsula Golf and Country Club (PGCC). Ray and Robin made cherished friendships at PGCC and enjoyed many Sundays on the course. After Ray died in 1997, she remained a devoted Catholic and golfer, only driving her convertible Mustang to weekly mass and to PGCC for rounds of golf, book club and bridge with friends. She also welcomed the loves of her life – her six grandchildren.
She was as delicate and gentle as her handwriting and strong and intent as her forehand. She was stylish like her mother and a great athlete like her father. She is remembered for her singular sense of humor as well as her sparkly blue eyes.
Robin loved the moon – many of us received an ALL CAPS email or quick call to CHECK OUT THE MOON. We send her our love and imagine her on a bright moonlit path home.
Robin is survived by her three children, Raymond III (Marti) of Alamo, Terence Leo (Gigi) of La Jolla, and Jennifer Marie (Paul) of San Francisco, as well as six amazing grandchildren – Allison, Tyrus, Kylie, Julia, Olivia, and Javier, her two sisters, Judy in Empire MI and Wendy in Rye NY, and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by two sisters, Kevil and Connie, and her loving husband, Raymond Jr.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service for Robin on Friday, May 15 at 10 a.m. at St Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, 300 Alameda De Las Pulgas, in San Mateo.
