Two men were arrested on drug and weapons-related charges after a traffic stop evening of Thursday in San Mateo, police said.
An officer stopped a vehicle around 9:51 p.m. near South Norfolk Street and Fashion Island Boulevard for a suspended registration violation, according to San Mateo police.
The vehicle’s occupants were identified as Alvaro Ramos, 47, and Luis Luque, 45, both of Bakersfield.
During the stop, officers saw suspected methamphetamine in plain view inside the vehicle and conducted a search. Police said they found additional narcotics, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and a driver’s license and credit cards belonging to another person.
Authorities determined Ramos is a convicted felon and arrested him on suspicion of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, forging or altering vehicle registration, drug possession with prior convictions, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, and misappropriation of property.
Luque was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with prior convictions, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.
Both men were booked into the San Mateo County Jail, police said.
