A Redwood City man has been charged with several felonies for allegedly entering San Mateo County homes in the middle of the night and attempting to engage in sexual contact with victims, San Mateo County Deputy District Attorney Shin-Mee Chang said.
The man, Jose Gonzalez Cruz, 30, allegedly entered a home in Redwood City in the middle of the night, Chang said, standing in the middle of the bedroom where a couple was sleeping. Cruz then allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the woman, who believed it to be her husband until she awoke and realized it was a stranger.
In a separate alleged May incident, Cruz allegedly entered a San Carlos home and laid next to a woman in bed naked, asking her to touch him when she woke up.
He has been charged with two counts of felony attempt to commit assault during a residential burglary, Chang said, as well as several other misdemeanor counts of prowling and indecent exposure for separate alleged incidents.
Cruz is currently being held on no bail and has not yet entered a plea, Chang said.
