An additional 23,214 vote-by-mail ballots were received Wednesday by the San Mateo County Elections Office and remain to be processed, according to elections officials.
The election night tally was more than 70,000 ballots, which included those mailed before Election Day and cast at universal polling places and voting centers around the county. The new ballots lift the total ballot count to 100,058 though elections officials said the numbers are raw and subject to change as additional ballots are received by the U.S. Postal Service, according to elections officials.
The next semi-official results report for the Nov. 3, 2015, all-mailed ballot election will be posted at www.shapethefuture.org 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5. Additional results will be released Monday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 12.
The all-mail ballot is part of a pilot program for this county to join Yolo County to conduct up to three local elections by Dec. 31, 2017, in which every registered voter receives a ballot by mail. The program was authorized by Assembly Bill 2028 authored by Assemblyman Kevin Mullin, D-South San Francisco.
