McKinley Elementary School in Burlingame is transforming its campus into a lively carnival of laughter, lights and local spirit for its beloved Harvest Festival Friday, Oct. 24, from 6-9:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4:30-9:30 p.m.
Parents are behind the effort to provide funds that directly support McKinley’s classrooms, teachers and enrichment programs. Parents, teachers and staff volunteer hundreds of hours to build themed booths, cook food, organize games and create unforgettable experiences for children and families.
There will be carnival games and inflatables to obstacle courses, food booths and live entertainment. Younger guests will delight in Lil Boos, a special area designed just for little ones who want to experience the fun of Halloween without the frights. With gentle music, cheerful decorations and costumed volunteers handing out candy, Lil Boos has quickly become one of the most popular stops at the festival.
For those seeking thrills, the legendary Haunted House is back and scarier than ever. Designed and built by parent volunteers and starring McKinley’s brave fifth grade actors, this fully immersive walk-through experience combines theatrical lighting, sound effects and creative storytelling to deliver an unforgettable adventure. The Haunted House has become a rite of passage for older students and families looking for a good scare — and it’s one of the festival’s biggest fundraising draws.
Funds are raised through ticket sales, food booths and “punch cards” that serve as the festival’s currency. Families can also purchase Max Passes, offering unlimited access to games, inflatables and the Haunted House. The school is at 701 Paloma Ave., Burlingame.
