San Mateo Councilmember Lisa Diaz Nash officially launched her reelection campaign on Sunday for her District 1 seat.
Nash has served on the council since 2022, and said she has strong momentum with more than $75,000 raised for her campaign and a string of early endorsers including San Mateo firefighters and police associations, state Sens. Josh Becker and Jerry Hill (ret.), Assemblymember Diane Papan, and county supervisors Jackie Speier, David Canepa, Lisa Gauthier and Ray Mueller.
There are three City Council seats up for reelection in San Mateo. The District 5 seat is held by Adam Loraine, the city’s current mayor, who is running for reelection. Also running for District 5 is Dana Yates Sahae, a former local journalist and parent leader active in neighborhood and school organizations and Dave Johnson, a church pastor and former paramedic.
In District 3, Councilmember Rob Newsom Jr. is running against Planning Commissioner Seema Patel for the seat.
