Edric Kwan, P.E., has been named as Belmont’s next Public Works director, following a nationwide recruitment.
Kwan brings 28 years of leadership experience in city, county, and consulting roles and a proven record of delivering multiyear capital programs, developing funding strategies, and overseeing and improving operations and maintenance activities.
Kwan has held senior leadership roles across the Bay Area, including senior vice president of SCI Consulting Group, Martinez city engineer, deputy director of Public Works for Alameda County, and Public Works director/town engineer for the town of Moraga. He has managed capital budgets of more than $250 million, delivered community-focused public work services, and led emergency response and recovery efforts for major infrastructure failures.
Kwan holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in California.
Kwan will begin his new role Sept. 22.
