A number of changes were recently announced in Belmont’s city leadership, with the police chief becoming interim assistant manager, a police captain becoming interim police chief, a new Community Development director and a new Community Development and Economic Vitality Department.

City Manager Afshin Oskoui announced the changes and said Police Chief Kenneth Stenquist has been appointed interim assistant city manager, police Capt. Andy Armando has been appointed interim chief of police. The city is also preparing for the retirement of Community Development Director Carlos de Melo in early September. To ensure a seamless transition and continuity of service, Deputy Community Development Director Laura Russell will be appointed Community Development director effective Aug. 1, according to the city.
