Three people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and more than a dozen others received citations at checkpoints in Redwood City last weekend, according to police.
The checkpoints were held Saturday night and into Sunday morning at two locations, on Woodside Road near Alameda de las Pulgas and at El Camino Real at Hopkins Avenue.
Of the roughly 600 vehicles screened at the checkpoints, three were arrested on suspicion of DUI. Eight drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license, eight others were cited for various moving violations, and one intoxicated passenger was arrested for allowing their unlicensed child to drive them home, police said.
Police said funding for the checkpoints was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
