A 22-year-old Belmont sex registrant has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison for sneaking into a female neighbor’s apartment and pulling off her blanket, San Mateo County Chief Deputy District Attorney Shin-Mee Chang said.
Christian Canelsian was previously sentenced to one year in county jail in November 2023 for sneaking into four Redwood City residences. He committed sexual battery, fondling victim’s breasts while they were sleeping, in two of those cases.
Canelsian, who got out of jail in May after getting time off for good behavior, snuck into his neighbor’s apartment on Sept. 6, 2024, and fled after he pulled off her blanket and she screamed.
The following week, Canelsian allegedly went back to the victim’s apartment and asked the victim and her daughter not to tell anyone he had been inside, according to the DA’s Office. When contacted by police, he said he had been drunk and followed an “animal carrying fruit” into the apartment, the DA’s Office said.
