California Girls State delegates honored

Auxiliary San Mateo County District 26 honored their 2021 California Girls State (CAGS) delegates and alternates at a reception on May 16. Only one rising senior is selected per school. Pictured are Delegates & Alternates from Aragon, Carlmont, Design Tech, Hillsdale, San Mateo, Nueva, Petaluma, and Scotts Valley. Five 2020 Citizens (wearing stoles) who missed getting recognized last year due to the pandemic were also honored: Simone Hsu (Aragon), Emily Chinn (San Mateo), Hannah Schellenberg (Hillsdale), Madison Shem (Design Tech) and Valerie Kuo (Carlmont). Their experience included networking with like-minded achievers, coaching juniors on college applications, and sharing best practices for school functions. CAGS promotes good citizenship, holds mock city, county and state elections, and strongly reinforces camaraderie. Students are selected by the Auxiliary with the assistance of high school administrators.
