Disney's live-action 'Moana' crashes to shore with an underwhelming splash at the box office
Disney's live-action “Moana” may be the top movie at the box office, but it didn't make a big splash in its first weekend. Studio estimates on Sunday show the film earned $43 million in the U.S. and Canada. Internationally, it earned $52 million, for a global total of $95 million. The movie cost a reported $250 million to produce. Disney's live-action remakes have had mixed success and competition from other family films may have impacted “Moana's” performance. There are currently three PG-rated movies in the top five, including “Minions & Monsters” and “Toy Story 5.”

A lost AirPod, AI fakes and the secret garden: How fans experienced Taylor Swift’s private wedding
A week after Taylor Swift’s star-studded wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden, fans still have not seen verified photos of the ceremony, Swift’s dress or the celebration inside. The secrecy has sparked an unusual hunt for traces of the event: from an artist selling preserved pieces of trash collected outside the venue to fans debunking AI-generated wedding images. For some Swift fans, the lack of access feels fitting for an artist who has spent nearly two decades turning personal moments into public stories — and deciding which pieces of her life she wants to share.

New York Times reporters are subpoenaed after Air Force One stories, raising press freedom concerns
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Department of Justice confirms that it's subpoenaed New York Times journalists after they reported on security concerns involving the new, Qatari-gifted Air Force One. The subpoenas mark a dramatic escalation of President Donald Trump’s campaign against the media that's drawn condemnation for eroding a fundamental freedom of American democracy. The new jet was a present from the U.S. ally and the administration spent $400 million on to retrofit and upgrade. The plane entered service last week. But Trump used an older model Air Force One jet to leave a NATO summit in Turkey and later referenced threats against him made by Iran.

The Duke of Sussex arrived Monday in his homeland for a number of charity events that were overshadowed by speculation of whether he would meet with his father.

Movie Review: The live-action 'Moana' is a lifeless carbon copy of an animated classic
Say what you will about them, but the Disney live-action remakes have at least given us a choice. Which would you rather see? A spirited, soaring animated “Moana,” or a purposeless remake featuring Dwayne Johnson with Fabio hair? Few of the live-action remakes, regardless of box-office receipts, are covered in glory. But “Moana,” directed by “Hamilton” veteran Thomas Kail, feels especially off course, offering little more than a lamentable swap of cartoon imagination for live-action do-over,” writes AP Film Writer Jake Coyle in his review. The lifeless result veers perilously close to “Saturday Night Live” parody or one of those joke parallel universes in the “Spider-Verse” movies.
