Hillsdale 39, Woodside 27
The Knights improved to 2-0 while handing the Wildcats their first loss of the season.
Kiara Nitao scored 18 points to lead Hillsdale, while Woodside got a team-high 12 points from Farrah Caldwell.
Menlo School 66, Independence 11
The Knights had no problems with the 76ers as they stayed unbeaten to start the season.
Menlo (4-0) was led by Sophia Longinidis, who finished with 18 points. Karen Xin added 12 and Saanvi Upreti chipped in with 11 for the Knights.
Terra Nova 45, Silver Creek 35
Trailing 17-15 after the first quarter, the Tigers outscored the Raiders 11-2 in the second to lead 26-19 at halftime and take control of their non-league game.
Mariyah Mahasin led Terra Nova (3-0) with 14 points, while Gabby Dyogi added 12 points, 7 assists and 6 steals as the Tigers came up with 20 steals as a team.
Silver Creek dropped to 1-1 with the loss.
In other action ...
Mercy (1-0) opened its season with a 53-23 win over Nueva School (0-1), which was the Mavericks’ opener, as well.
Boys’ basketball
Menlo School 65, Terra Nova 51
Senior Tate Cohen posted a double-double to lead the Knights past the Tigers.
Cohen scored 19 points and pulled down 13 boards and came up with a pair of steals for Menlo (1-0) in its season opener. Aidan Stull filled up the stat sheet for the Knights, finishing with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, while Kai Mawakana added 12 points and 5 boards.
Terra Nova falls to 1-2 with the loss.
North Valley Baptist 49, Nueva School 43
The Mavericks scored 30 points in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome a halftime deficit in their season opener.
NVB (2-0) took a 24-13 lead at the break over Nueva (0-1).
Palo Alto 86, Sequoia 60
The Vikings scored a combined 50 points in the second and third quarters to pull away from the Ravens.
Sequoia (0-3) trailed 17-12 after the first quarter and were down 37-24 at halftime. The third quarter was a barnburner as the teams combined for 54 points — Palo Alto (2-0) scored 30 in the period, but the Ravens kept up by scoring 24.
But they could never reel in the Vikings.
Bellarmine 66, Half Moon Bay 29
The Cougars were outscored 39-17 in the middle two quarters as the Bells cruised to the easy win.
HMB (1-1) was down 18-10 after the first quarter and were outscored 19-5 in the second to trail 37-15 at halftime. The Cougars then managed only 14 points the second half as Bellarmine won its season opener.
In other action ...
Burlingame (2-0) stayed undefeated early in the season with a 51-41 decision over Fremont-Sunnyvale (1-1).

Aragon 3, Palo Alto 1
The Dons opened their season with an impressive win over the Vikings.
Tied 1-1 at halftime, Aragon (1-0) scored two goals in the second to post the win in the season opener for both.
Senior striker Stella Pisaro scored twice to lead the Dons. Emi Lo, a sophomore midfielder, opened her scoring account, while freshman defender Kayla Sims picked up an assist.
Nueva School 3, Half Moon Bay 1
The Mavericks, which advanced to the CCS Division V title game last season, trailed the Cougars 1-0 at halftime.
But Nueva (1-0) rallied in the second half, scoring three times.
Marica Lynes converted a Clarissa Amezcua assist into the only goal for HMB (0-1).
Sacred Heart Prep 1, Menlo-Atherton 0
The Gators scored in the first half and made it stand as they beat their crosstown rivals.
Lauryn Masetti poked the ball home following a scramble in front of the goal off a corner kick for SHP (1-0).
Menlo-Atherton is 0-1 to start the season.
Mills 2, The Bay School-SF 0
Maya Dolmage-Heath, a freshman, scored in the 50th minute and Reece Roach doubled the lead to give the Vikings its first win of the season.
Redwood-Larkspur 2, Hillsdale 1
Tied 1-1 at halftime, the Giants potted a second-half goal to beat the Knights.
Hillsdale falls to 2-2 with the loss. It was the season opener for Redwood.

Burlingame (1-0) opened its season with a 2-0 shutout of Menlo School (0-1).
Carlmont improved to 2-0 with a 3-0 win over Milpitas (0-1).
Sequoia (0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first half, by Mitty (1-0) responded with three second-half goals to post the 3-1 victory.
Capuchino (0-0-2) and Pinewood (0-0-1) played to a 1-1 tie.
Crystal (1-0), the defending CCS Division V champs, opened its season by scoring three goals in each half of a 6-0 win over Lynbrook.
Boys’ soccer scores
Oakland (1-2) shut out Westmoor in the Rams’ opener, 3-0.
Palo Alto (1-0-1) and Sacred Heart Prep (0-0-1) battled to a 2-2 draw.
Harker (1-0) posted a 3-0 win over Nueva School (0-1) in the season opener for both.
Priory (1-0) opened it season with an 8-0 shellacking of Design Tech (0-1).
Sacred Heart Cathedral (2-0) thumped El Camino (0-1-1), 12-1.
