John Barnds, Sacred Heart Prep boys’ lacrosse. The Gators earned a sweep in the CCS Division I finals, with both the SHP boys’ and girls’ teams claiming championships, both upsetting the respective No. 1 seeds, each against St. Ignatius. The boys led wire to wire in an 8-7 victory. Bards led the way, totaling four goals, as the SHP boys claimed their second CCS lacrosse title all-time in the five-year history of the tournament.
Lilla Kuziemko, San Mateo girls’ diving. The senior, who finished third at the CCS championships, finished eighth at the CIF State Diving Championships. Her score of 446.60 bettered her CCS score by nearly seven points.
Jack Molise, Menlo-Atherton baseball. The senior pitcher did it all in the Bears’ regular-season finale, an 11-0 win over Hillsdale. Not only did he allow only one hit in six innings of work, striking out five, he also went 2 for 4 at the plate, with a home run and four RBIs.
Madyson Jade Quintanilla, South City softball. The freshman was been nothing short of astounding through the regular season, finishing with a .647 batting average, tops among all Peninsula Athletic League hitters, and 10th overall in the Central Coast Section. Quintanilla saved her best single-game performance for last, though, as she highlighted South City’s 18-3 victory over rival El Camino, hitting for the cycle with a 4-for-4, three-RBI day. Adding to the mystique of her first career cycle, Quintanilla recorded it in just three innings by virtue of the mercy rule.
Kyler Heath, Serra boys’ golf. The sophomore dazzled at the CCS boys’ golf championship last Tuesday at Monterey’s Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, claiming second place overall, marking the best CCS finish by a Serra golfer since Isaiah Salinda won the CCS title in 2013. Only a bolt-from-the-blue round by St. Ignatius’ Jayden Jew prevented Heath from a title shot, as Jew sunk seven birdies en route to a 5-under 66. Heath finished two strokes back with an impressive 3-under 68, punching his ticket to Tuesday’s CIF Northern California Regional Championship, slated for Tuesday, May 27, at Berkeley Country Club in El Cerrito.
Adam Man, Carlmont boys’ diving. The senior was the highest county finisher at the CIF State Diving Championships. After a third-place finish at CCS, Man took sixth at state with a score of 485.15.

Menlo won all three doubles matches via super tiebreaker, with Temsamani and Huang clinching the title with a 6-1, 4-6, 12-10 victory at No. 2 doubles. In a 4-0 win over the Tigers, Lafon pitched a complete game, scattering five hits, with one walk and four strikeouts in a shutout effort. At the plate, he went 2 for 4 with a double and RBI.
Cameron Kani, Findlay Baker, Conrad Chern and Benjamin Bouie, Crystal boys’ track and field. The foursome easily qualified for the CCS track and field finals in the boys’ 4x800 relay, pacing the field in the prelims Wednesday at Gilroy High School. Their time of 7:53.91 not only bested the rest of the field by over 11 seconds, but stands as the second-best time in the event throughout the CCS this season.
Seth Collet, Woodside boys’ swimming. The senior had a pair of A final appearances and top-nine finishes at the CIF State Swimming Championships at Clovis West High School over the weekend.
