A Honolulu man charged with felony possession and transportation of narcotics, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, was hit with another set for charges for allegedly bringing fentanyl into the courthouse when he was appearing for the first case, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The man, Joey Arakaki, 35, was allegedly caught sleeping in a car Nov. 24 with 1,244 grams of fentanyl among other drugs, including 14 grams of mushrooms.
He was originally charged with two felonies and three misdemeanors and posted a $100,000 bail.
When he returned to court straight from the airport for a hearing on the case, security allegedly found three baggies of fentanyl in his bags. He told officers he had forgotten it was there, Wagstaffe said.
He’s now been charged with three additional drug-related felonies, and is currently being held on a $20,000 bail.
