College of San Mateo went over a year without losing a game. But all good things must come to an end.

The Bulldogs (9-1 Coast North, 32-1 overall) had their 48-game softball winning streak snapped Tuesday with a 2-1 loss at Hartnell College (7-3, 27-8) in Salinas. It marks the first loss of the season for CSM after a 32-0 start, and the program’s first loss since April 3, 2025. The team finished 2025 of a 16-game win streak, culminating in the a California Community College Athletic Association championship.
With CSM taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth, Hartnell swung ahead in the bottom of the inning on a two-run home run by sophomore Kalea De Leon, her 10th of the year. CSM freshman Alyssa Green set the table in the top of the seventh with a one-out single, but Hartnell sophomore Mikayla Sanchez induced back-to-back groundouts to end it.
Amid a scoreless tie through five innings, the Bulldogs jumped ahead in the top of the sixth on a two-out RBI double from freshman Peyton Huber. With runners at second and third, the Bulldogs had a chance to add on, but Sanchez bounced back with one of her five strikeouts. CSM stranded seven baserunners in the game.

Freshman left-hander Lola Sierra took the loss, dropping her record to 18-1.
CSM’s winning streak began against Hartnell, April 8, 2025, with a 5-4 extra-inning victory.
First-place CSM entered the day with a two-game cushion in the Coast Conference standings, and now owns a one-game lead over second-place West Valley (8-2, 31-3). Hartnell, in third place, is two games back of first.
Next up, CSM travels Thursday to San Jose City College to take on the Jaguars at 3 p.m.
