CCS girls’ golf
Kurup top local finisher
Carlmont’s Viveka Kurup, who won the PAL championship last week, finished in a tie for 13th place at the Central Coast Section tournament with a round of 5-over 77, the highest finish of any San Mateo County player.
As a team, Carlmont finished 11th with a five-golfer total of 512.
Castilleja’s Niav Layton captured the CCS title, beating Pinewood’s Megan Chou in a tiebreaker. Both golfers shot even-par 72 at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Carmel.
Menlo School’s Gianna Inguagiato shot a 79 to finish in a tie for 22nd. As a team, the Knights finished sixth with a total of 441.
San Mateo, the PAL’s regular-season champion, finished 12th with a score of 517. The Bearcats were led by Lindsey Huang, whose 86 was good for a tie for 51st.

No. 2 Los Altos 3, No. 7 Carlmont 0
The Scots season came to an end with a sweep at the hands of the Eagles, 25-15, 25-21, 25-21.
Carlmont finishes the season 23-12.
Division II
No. 1 Aragon 3, No. 9 Pioneer 0
The top-seeded Dons cruised into the Division II semifinals with a 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 win over the Mustangs.
Aragon (25-6) will face No. 5 Presentation in the semifinals Thursday at Christopher High in Gilroy.
No. 2 Branham 3, No. 10 San Mateo 2
The Bearcats gave the Bruins everything they could handle before the team from San Jose outlasted San Mateo 26-28, 25-10, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12.
San Mateo ends the season with a record of 8-16.
No. 5 Presentation 3, No. 4 Woodside 1
The Wildcats took the first set from the Panthers, but could not close the deal as Presentation advances to the semifinals with a 26-28, 25-20, 25-16, 25-11 victory.
Woodside finishes the season 18-15.
Division III
No. 3 Hillsdale 3, No. 6 Soledad 0
The Knights swept past the Aztecs in the quarterfinals of the Division III bracket, 25-9, 25-20, 25-16.
Hillsdale (18-10) moves into the semifinals with the win and will be on the road at No. 2 Aptos (24-8) Thursday. The Mariners swept No. 7 Prospect in their quarterfinal match.

SHP ends the season with a record of 13-18.
No. 4 Harker 3, No. 12 Mercy-Burlingame 0
The Crusaders’ season came to an with a loss to the Eagles, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14.
Mercy-Burlingame ends the year with a 19-18 record.
Division VÂ
No. 2 Mt. Madonna 3, No. 10 Nueva 2
The Mavericks put a scare into the Hawks before Mt. Madonna eventually pulled out a 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 23-25, 16-14.
Nueva, the co-champions of the Private School Athletic League’s North Division, finishes the season 16-3.
Girls’ tennis
PAL individual tournament
The first and second rounds of the Peninsula Athletic League’s girls’ individual tennis championships pretty much went according to plan as nearly all the top seeds advanced to today’s quarterfinal round.
The only upset came in the singles tournament, where Aragon’s Jessica Fu knocked off No. 4 seed Raiselle Kyaw, El Camino’s No. 1 singles player. Both Fu and Kyaw cruised through their first-round matchups — with Kyaw knocking off Makalan Tseng of Mills 6-0, 6-0, while Fu dropped only one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Capuchino’s Nicole Liu.
In the second round, Fu upset Kyaw 6-1, 6-4.
Fu is scheduled to take on Half Moon Bay’s Norah Lynch, who beat Terra Nova’s Alyssa Iverson in three sets in the first round, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). Lynch then beat Woodside’s Snowy Sabel in the second round, 6-4, 6-4.
Other than that, the seeds held. Top-seeded Allison Browne of Menlo-Atherton, who had a first-round bye, will take on Carlmont’s Victoria Gittoes, the No. 7 seed, in the quarterfinals. Carlmont’s Annika Lin, the No. 2 seed, will face Burlingame’s Vedika Bhaumik and M-A’s Sophia Longo will take on No. 6 Grave Wang of San Mateo.
In doubles play, the top eight seeds all advanced to the quarterfinals. M-A’s Katie Donahue and Charlie Smith, the top seed, will face No. 8 seed Julia Richardson and Lana Feltsman of Hillsdale; Carlmont’s Alyssa Nguyen and Juhi Mehta, the No. 4 seed, will take on No. 5 seed Maddie and Molly Wachhorst; Laura Kirk and Nia Zisman, the No. 2 seed from M-A, will match up with Kelli Eng and Jully Huang, the No. 7 seed from San Mateo, while Christina Wu and Aretha Chen, the No. 3 seed from Aragon will face No. 6 seed Lani Southern and Rachel Brody of Half Moon Bay.
SHP claims WBAL singles title
It was an all-Sacred Heart Prep meeting in the finals of the WBAL singles tournament, with Lindsay Lynch downing teammate Isa Robinson 6-2, 6-1 to earn a spot in the CCS individual tournament.
