Editor,

I do not write letters like this, but I must respond to the letter by Ms. Xuereb in the weekend Daily Journal criticizing Supervisor Jackie Speier for supporting Proposition 50 — as a supporter of tyranny — and someone who could care less about democracy in this country. On the contrary, one has only to review Speier’s public service for more than 30 years to know what a dedicated public servant she is and know how fortunate we are to have her on our Board of Supervisors.

Here we go again…we have Ms. Nishimura repeating the Democrat talking point to irrationally rationalize the imagined threat to democracy by pushing the actual threat to democracy in Proposition 50. If Democrats had the integrity to stand up for our democracy, they would have told wannabe dictator Newsom to pound sand. Instead, they all folded to his edict, even Speier and her 30 years of public service. Perhaps this 30 year duration explains why Speier opts to put party over people. Vote NO on Proposition 50 – to save the future of our democracy for ourselves and our children and everyone else in between.

Nanci must have listened a lot to Nancy Pelosi. When an argument is too hollow, and irrational, leftists like her throw in "democracy' and "for the children" for good measure. Nanci may need to be reminded that we went through a very democratic process not long ago to redistrict but that is apparently not democratic enough. Not until every district in California is Blue, thereby wiping out any representation for those 40% who are of a different political persuasion. Nanci, you may be aware that China's and North Korea's official designations include the moniker that they are "democratic republics." Is that what inspired you?
