I fully support Brian Donnellan to serve the people of San Mateo County as a judge. I have known Brian for over 20 years. We worked together in the felony Domestic Violence Unit for the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. Brian as the prosecutor and myself as a Victim Advocate.
This is one of the most difficult assignments due to the inherent looming lethality and often victim/survivor resistance to abuser accountability. As a prosecutor in this role, it is crucial to have the knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence while having the ability to offer a safe and nonjudgmental space for them to share their plight as survivors.
Brian’s commitment to holding criminals accountable while keeping survivors safe has never wavered. He understands that once survivors are thrust into the criminal justice system, it often takes much for them to navigate the process, especially when the layers of trauma and fear may be much for them to endure.
In his role as a prosecutor, Brian has had to make the appropriate tough decisions for the sake of the community, and I can attest that Brian Donnellan has the qualifications to serve the people. Brian is a son of San Mateo County, a veteran and committed public servant, and a family man. His lived experiences, moral compass, global perspective and pragmatic approach to situations are all characteristics of a fair and effective judge.
