Editor,

Among the dozens of executive orders and a hundred executive actions Trump signed on Day 1, there is an order challenging the granting of American citizenship to all who are born within the borders of the United States. Presumably, these infants now would have to go through the naturalization process to become citizens, or really they would have to prove the clause in the 14th Amendment “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof,” in addition to having a birth certificate, to become U.S. citizens.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Constantino, and the reminder that Trump is serious about securing our borders. Trump is off to a good start and I would recommend American citizens do their civic duty and report suspected invaders to ICE. As for the order challenging “anchor” babies, there’s no harm in trying. If Trump were Biden, I imagine Trump could just ignore an Amendment and carry on.
